Every local council in Victoria comes with its own uniqueness about it, with even neighbouring suburbs managing to differentiate in personality.

From differences in community groups, council meetings and community support, to economic development and local laws, there are plenty of standouts when it comes to the individuality of Victorian Metropolitan cities.

One that is no exception is landfill waste management, but today we’re talking about those coloured bins you can’t forget to place on the curbside once per week.

From yellow lid bins (plastics and recycling) to red lid bins (rubbish), to green lid bins (FOGO or food organics garden organics) and even purple lid bins (glass disposal sustainability), these waste disposal wheelie bins are possibly the most complicated thing to work out when you’ve moved to a new council.

So, to those needing to work out when to wheel their bins past the footpath for their weekly pickup, check out our list of bin day collections, sorted by council sub-menus for your convenience!
